The Opportunity
Oklahoma is on a mission.
The state, traditionally fueled by oil and gas and manufacturing jobs, has made significant investments in its STEM ecosystem and workforce, increasing R&D spending by 73% in the last two decades.
Despite these investments, public perceptions of Oklahoma’s science and technology capabilities have lagged. The state faces a threat of brain drain among its young people, and is working hard to convince out-of-state companies to plug into Oklahoma’s innovation economy.
The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) is tasked with catalyzing these efforts through investments in emerging technology companies, supporting legislation to promote innovation, and developing STEM-adjacent programs.
When they approached Gitwit about launching an all-out media blitz to shift public perceptions of Oklahoma’s capabilities, we knew we wanted to be involved.
