Rapidly developed a subscription content proof of concept that gave college football fans exclusive access to their heroes.
The Opportunity
Think about the biggest Sooners football fan you know (maybe it’s you). They’d probably tell you that they want more from college football season — the usual televised games, ESPN commentators, and write-ups about OU games aren’t enough for them. What they crave is inside access to their favorite OU players and coaches.
Former OU football coach and general football legend Barry Switzer understands this better than anyone. Having been regaling friends and fans with his football stories for years, he knew there was a need for behind-the-scenes stuff that football fans would literally pay money to hear. Coach first approached Gitwit about creating an exclusive content platform that people of football fandom could access in exchange for a premium content subscription.
It wouldn’t just be Barry — the platform would feature other members of football royalty, too, like Coach Bob Stoops, Adrian Peterson, and Brian Bosworth. They would share stories and expert analysis with fans via virtual calls, live streams on game day, and real-time commentary from Barry and friends.
The challenge? Coach Barry and his team approached us in July, and were hoping to have something to pre-sell to users by September. Our team agreed and got to work Making Sooner Magic.
Product Vision Workshop
Within the first month of working with Barry Switzer and his team, Gitwit had managed to conduct a series of stakeholder workshops to identify the most exciting ideas for their content strategy. We also used this time to align with stakeholders on what would be the most critical pieces of this experience to launch in September, develop a pricing strategy for initial release, and begin work on a pre-launch hype campaign to generate awareness and get people excited about what was coming.

Our design team engaged in a sprint to quickly produce the visual brand for this new platform and began prototyping style tiles to explore how that could be applied to a user interface.

We created a website and launch video to build hype among Sooner football fans, highlighting the rich content available and the big names behind the movement to drive subscriptions to the Sooners Access app.
Web App Build
We concepted, designed, and built an interactive web app that subscribers could tune into for gametime and post-game coverage from OU football legends like Barry Switzer. We rapidly developed our MVP with integrations from other platforms like Vimeo and Memberstack, generating nearly 1,000 subscribers in the 2023 season.
